Under-educated

I am very concerned that the registered nursery inspectors who will be lost when Ofsted's Early Years Directorate takes over are those with a real understanding of teaching and learning in the early years. While social services registration and inspection officers currently do an excellent job within their area of expertise, their backgrounds tend to be in childcare and social work rather than early years teaching. I would argue that people who are assessing the quality of early years education should be qualified to degree level in that specific subject.
