The writer has been misinformed by her college.
Approved centres do not 'find' external verifiers - they are assigned to them by the awarding body, such as Edexcel, City and Guilds, CACHE, and so on. All the candidates have to be registered for their award by the centre at least ten weeks prior to submission.
Ms Cannons needs to retrieve her portfolio from the college, demand a registration fee refund and submit her portfolio through another centre. The awarding body will assist her with this.
