Further to the news story 'Staff recruitment is stalled by red tape' (16 May), I am chair of a playgroup at Widecombe in the Moor in Devon. Last December we sent off our paperwork to Ofsted for the vetting of three staff. So far, one person has been checked after a rather heated telephone call, one form appears to have vanished into thin air, while the third form has been sent by Ofsted to the Criminal Records Bureau, which has requested information that Inow cannot get from Ofsted. Ofsted has said three times that it will phone me back , but I'm still waiting for the call. It is now the middle of June and we are still waiting for the other two members of staff to be vetted.
