This Swedish study identified three ways of relating to computer use: as a threat to other activities, as an available option, and as an essential activity. A relationship was found between these categories and the three learning environments, characterised respectively as protective (teachers try to reduce the time spent by children on the computer); supporting (teachers engage more actively in the use of the computer); and guiding (teachers stimulate children's interest in the computer and guide use).
