Nursery World - Welsh training for early years

The Welsh Assembly plans to train at least 150 Welsh-language early years practitioners by 2006. Jane Davidson, minister for education and lifelong learning, has invited Mudiad Ysgolian Meithrin, which promotes and supports the education of children under five through the Welsh medium, and Trinity College in Camarthen to work in partnership to deliver the training programme. She said the Assembly was fulfilling a target to create 'a network of support and quality training to enhance and extend early years Welsh-medium provision'.

Training will involve setting up systems that allow for distance learning, online learning facilities, the development of a national database, and support for candidates, including additional Welsh language training if required.
