Wendy McInally accepts donation from the Birrell Collection nursery group

(Photograph) - Wendy McInally, a paediatric nurse for Macmillan Cancer Relief, was in a party mood as she accepted a 5,000 donation raised by staff and children from the Birrell Collection nursery group at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. Children from the Birrell's Queen Margaret College nursery raised almost 800 of the total by taking part in a sponsored mile-long toddle, while children from the West End nursery raked in more than 250 by tackling an equally tough task - keeping quiet for the 'Hold Your Tongue' challenge. Staff members did their bit too. A group of 20 did a sponsored climb and abseil at Hadrian's Wall, including Christine MacDowel, manager of the group, who said, 'I told all my family and friends that if they really wanted to see me dangling from the end of a rope, they would have to pay me a lot of money - and they did!' This is the first year of a three-year partnership between the nursery group and the charity.
