Michael Bradley, owner of Rochford Day Nursery, Essex, was presentedwith the award for Early Years Childcarer of the Year and was praisedfor his 'dedication and perseverance'. Michael opened a day nursery in2001, despite having no childcare experience, after he had struggled tofind good provision for his own child. Michael has supported a number ofparents and children in the community, including helping a single motherof triplets gain financial assistance from social services, offering afree day per week for each of the triplets, and opening a sensory roomfor community use.
Michael said, 'I was shocked to be nominated, but even more shocked towin! I am pleased because it shows the good work we are doing here. Wetry to help people as much as we can. It's really an award for all ofthe staff; any nursery is only as good as its team, and we have anexcellent team here.'
