Spider webs are beautiful to look at on a frosty day or in the dew of early morning, and make a great focus for a winter activity and display.

To introduce this activity I took the children in to the nursery garden to look for webs. The children enjoyed exploring the garden using their magnifying glasses and were delighted when they found a web. We talked about how the spider spins the web to catch flies to eat, how long it must take a spider to spin a web and where spiders might be hiding.

Once indoors we set about making spiders and their webs.
