Working Tax Credits will be paid direct into a claimant's bank

Working Tax Credits will be paid direct into a claimant's bank, building society or Post Office account from 7 November following changes by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC). At present, the credit comes with wages or salaries. The switch to direct payments is designed to simplify the payment process and help claimants to keep their financial affairs more private. HMRC has asked all employers to write to their staff members to explain the changes. The changeover will be automatic and Working Tax Credit claimants are not required to do anything. For more information call the Tax Credit helpline on 0845 300 3900.
