The Shape We're In

By Sarah Boseley (Guardian Faber, £12.99)

The Guardian's health editor takes a look at the complexities that underpin the UK's obesity crisis. She highlights that poverty today comes with 'kebab and chips' and is not about starvation but about cheap junk food.

She argues that there has been no comprehensive plan from any political party to tackle the problem, and that there is a fear in confronting the powerful economic players within the food and drink industry who provide 'the junk that is doing harm'.

A thought-provoking read that asks us to consider obesity as not just a physical issue but in the context of the way we live today and the example we set our children.
