Little Princess's party, and the world of Earth Tiggers

In I Want A Party! by Tony Ross (Andersen Press, hardback, £10.99), it isn't Christmas and it isn't her birthday, but Little Princess is 'bored, bored, bored' and determined to have a party. The Prime Minister helps with the party hats, the General suggests a party game and every night Little Princess dreams about her party. But on the day no one turns up; Little Princess has forgotten to send the invitations. When her best friend arrives with an invitation to her own party, Little Princess doesn't waste the opportunity to have a tremendous party for two!

Now out in paperback is Dr Xargle's Book of Earth Tiggers, written by Jeanne Willis and illustrated by Tony Ross (Andersen Press, £5.99). Here, Dr Xargle is instructing his class of small fellow aliens on the nature and habits of earth creatures known as cats. They are made of furry material, which does up underneath with pink buttons, and are available in patterned or plain. Awarded a Highly Commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal, this is a title that does not disappoint - as the blurb says it really is 'a laugh-out-loud book'.
