Editor's view - Communication with children and with our readers is in the spotlight

Management Provision
Helen Moylett's great series on children's communication reaches its sixth and final part this week, with an in-depth look at how Government and other agencies are encouraging initiatives that focus on this area of learning and development.

We're already nearly halfway through Hello, the National Year of Communication, and it will be really important for young children to continue to receive a high level of support once 2011 is over. The recommendation by Dame Clare Tickell in the EYFS Review that communication and language should be a prime area of learning, separated from literacy, should ensure that no-one takes their eye off the ball!

Nursery World will be doing its bit by running events such as our Communication Masterclass on 6 July, at which Helen Moylett will be speaking, along with Professor Colwyn Trevarthen and Alice Sharp of Experiential Play (see www.nurseryworldcomms.com for more information and booking).

Helen's series, which contains a wealth of advice, information and suggestions for organisations and publications to go to for further support, will be collected as a Practice Guide on our website at www.nurseryworld.co.uk/go/guides/, so that you have the whole series in one handy place. You can find many other of our fantastic series packaged up like this, including EYFS Training, Schemas and the Developing Brain, and still more will be added to the website soon.

The increasing importance of the internet in the way people access information means we are changing at Nursery World too. This is our last weekly issue - we'll be back on 14 June with an expanded fortnightly magazine and enhanced online content .
