When and how did you get here?

I got the position in March 2023. My journey started in 2021 September, taking the leap from room leader to a deputy manager and then manager.

Did you always aspire to work in management?

Yes, I've always aspired to work in leadership as I thrive off challenge and love the adrenaline of success when the reward pays off.

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome these?

The challenges I have faced being a young manager is people not taking me seriously, as well as training the older generation how to use technology.

The way I overcome any challenge it to effectively communicate with my colleagues and ensure I am approachable to my staff. In my opinion, listening is the most important skill in understanding issues.

What are the advantages of being younger and in a managerial role?

The advantages of being in a managerial role are the benefits that come with the job. The biggest advantage I would say is the realisation of making a positive impact on the children.

What advice would you give to others?

Take appropriate risks and have a go, learn from your mistakes and grow as an individual. I have worked for the NHS, Busy Bees and Kids Planet, the three biggest nursery groups, and this is my approach.
