I am sorry that some daycare providers have been confused over this issue because of information we have sent them. This has happened because any organisation requesting information about using the CRB is entered in our database, and will automatically receive application forms inviting them to register to use the Disclosure service. The daycare providers that have received application forms recently will have at some time in the past contacted us independently for information.
The CRB will help organisations make safer recruitment decisions by providing wider access to criminal record information through the Disclosure service. It is important that organisations eligible to use the service know how to do so. They can visit our website for further information, on www.crb.gov.uk.We will also continue to work closely with Ofsted and no doubt it will be producing guidance in due course.
Any organisation that would like to be removed from our Registration Database can call our dedicated Registration Line on 0870 90 90 822. We will ensure they do not receive updates or further information about registering with the CRB.
We will clarify this position through our regular newsletter to those organisations currently on our Registration Database.
