'In the past few months we have been busy exploring ways of developing the service we offer our members,' explained Becky Hopkins, management committee representative from the Gloucestershire Association of Playwork. 'Discussions with Gloucestershire Playgroup and Toddler Association (PATA) have led to a new initiative called GAP and PATA - Working Together.' Both groups are keen supporters of Gloucestershire's Early Years Childcare and Development Partnership.
A new post of out-of-school support manager, funded by the EYDCP, has been created and the appointee, Diane Vince, will be based at the PATA Centre in Gloucester. Her role will be to build links with out-of-school clubs and playworkers, and identify new areas of work as part of an on-going support package.
Ann Wheeler, PATA operations manager, said, 'It's our tenth anniversary this year and we very much look forward to working with GAP. Out-of-school clubs and playworkers are an integral part of our vision.'
