OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT

Staff and children at Kids 1st Low Fell in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear are celebrating after achieving an Ofsted outstanding.

Nursery manager Amy Hedley, said, 'This is a fantastic achievement for the whole staff team especially as we have only been open since March. We all work so hard to ensure that we provide our children with the highest quality of care and education and we are thrilled that it has been recognised by Ofsted.'

SPONSORED WALK

Kids Planet Day Nurseries in Lymm, Cheshire took part in the British Heart Foundation's Artie's Olympics. Children, staff and parents completed a sponsored walk and raised nearly £700.

ON THE BEAT

Blossom Tree Children's Nursery in Gilmerton, Edinburgh was visited by officers from the Lothian and Borders police, as part of its 'people who help us' topic.

Children and staff had a wonderful time chatting to the police and exploring their van.

BEACH PARTY

Children from Busy Bees Nursery in Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, enjoyed a beach party during World Water Week, 28-31 August.

The children made bubble pictures, took part in lots of water play activities and attended a beach party where they played with buckets, spades and beach balls.

MINI ARTISTS

Active Learning in Dorking, Surrey welcomed artist Marie Reville to the setting to work with the children. Ms Reville encouraged the children to create their own work of art based on Damien Hirst's 'Spot' paintings. The children's recreations of the paintings are displayed in the nursery for parents and visitors to see.

GRADUATION LINE-UP

Busy Bees in Hammersmith held a graduation day for children leaving to start school. The graduation was attended by parents and the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham, who gave out certificates and trophies.

GREAT OUTDOORS

Busy Bees and Busy Bears Children's Day Nurseries in Durham held a launch party for their new outdoor play space. The setting invited staff from Lanchester Garden Centre, who helped develop the area. They brought the centre's owls to share with the children.
