Old Station Nursery takes on science park site

Business Management
The Old Station Nursery group, which operates settings throughout Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire, will open its fifth nursery in January.

Based at the Oxford Science Park, the 72-place nursery was previously operated by another provider that ceased trading in July.

The Old Station Nursery group will carry out a £100,000 refurbishment of the setting, which will include decoration and refurbishment of the garden, before it re-opens on 3 January 2017.

Sarah Steel, managing director of the Old Station Nursery, said, ‘Being located at the Oxford Science Park will be beneficial not only for people in the surrounding local area but for those working within the Park. We wholeheartedly support those parents who return to work and if they wish, actively encourage them to come to the nursery during their breaks for breastfeeding or playtime. It’s so refreshing that the nursery has the full support of the landlord as it’s clearly an important amenity for the Park. We can’t wait to open our doors to our new children and their families.’

Piers Scrimshaw-Wright, managing director of the Oxford Science Park, said, ‘We warmly welcome Sarah and her team. We have been hugely impressed by Sarah’s spirit and drive to refurbish the nursery at the Park to be up and running in time for the New Year. The Nursery is a vital amenity to the Park and local area and we have worked hard to quickly find a new operator. We will continue to support the nursery for the benefit of the children, parents and new staff.’

The new management of the setting at Oxford Science Park follows the news last month that Ms Steel is launching a new nursery group with £3.3m in financial backing.

The first two nurseries under the Pilgrim Trading brand, one in Twickenham and one in Brentford, will open in spring 2017.
