More than 3,500 children under the age of five are admitted to hospital in the UK as a result of being burned or scalded each year, Government figures show.
The campaign, 'Keep your kids out of hot water', is being spearheaded by the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) together with the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) and the British Burn Association (BBA).
DTI figures show that just under half (45 per cent) of all burns and scalds victims in the UK are children under the age of five. The most common source of scalds in the home is cups or mugs containing a hot drink, with around 1,100 children a year being scalded by knocking cups over themselves.
