The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited a Sure Start centre in Ballymena where they met people who have completed an intensive parenting programme.
The centre, funded by the DfE in Northern Ireland, is run by the charity Action for Children. The parenting programme focuses on supporting families facing challenges such as isolation or mental health issues.
The couple also dropped in on a play session for children under three and a fathers’ group. The Duke joined the group for Fathers Reading Every Day (FRED), designed to encourage dads to read with their children.
Action for Children director for Northern Ireland Dawn Shaw said, ‘The focus at the centre is on learning through play, and the visit was an exciting opportunity for parents and children to meet the Duke and Duchess.’
