I love Janet Lansbury's blog (www.janetlansbury.com). It draws on the work of Magda Gerber and is full of good ideas and real understanding about the learning power of babies and young children and how we can help or hinder it. She is a real advocate for children and her thoughts and advice are very sound.  Helen Moylett, early years consultant, president of British Association of Early Childhood Education

Pinterest (www.pinterest.com) is an online pinboard where people can organise and share images of the things they love. I like browsing on here and can often find inspiring ideas with which to transform learning environments inside and out.  Elizabeth Jarman, managing director, The Elizabeth Jarman Group

I am a big fan of Earlyarts (www.eaerlyarts.co.uk), which is a highly-engaging route into the Earlyarts network for early years practitioners and creative people.

As a resource it is content rich, dynamic and high quality. The 'resources' section has a wealth of practical toolkits and a creative shop. The training section includes some top notch events. it is a brilliant way to connect with others.  Nathan Archer, development manager, Lincolnshire Montessori

From a child development perspective I cannot think of anything better than Margaret Donaldson's book A Child's Mind (Harper Collins, £5.59, ISBN 9780006861225), which is a classic enquiry into the development of language and thought.First published in 1978, this is as wise and perceptive today as it was then, and is a book which I come back to time and time again. Sue Robb, head of early years, 4Children
