Supervisory work in a holiday playscheme is the focus of a new level 3 course. Karen Faux reports

Crechendo Training has launched a new level 3 playwork course designed for those at level 2 who wish to explore the possibilities of taking on a more senior role in holiday playschemes.

In recent years employers have identified a skills shortage at this level. SkillsActive has recently established the Playwork Induction Standard at level 3, on which Crechendo's course is based.

Louise Turner, training and course development officer, says, 'Undoubtedly there have been some difficulties for employers in recruiting holiday playworkers at a more senior level and in devising this course we wanted to contain high quality training in a relatively short course. It is intended to appeal to a broad cross-section of students and playworkers wishing to find more supervisory work during the school holidays.'
