Editor's view - Many aspects of best practice will not change regardless of policy decisions

We were e-mailed last week by an early years practitioner asking why we were publishing a four-part guide to the revised Early Years Foundation Stage when the final framework has not yet been confirmed.

Did we not think that the consultation process had any worth?, she asked.

Well, of course Nursery World believes that the early years sector should be fully consulted and listened to in the course of changing the EYFS. However, there are several points to make here.

We can assume from the thorough job done by the Tickell Review and its positive reception that the general course of the revision will not change too much.

We also know that early years providers are incredibly keen to start thinking about how to implement the new EYFS and are hungry for good advice and information. There will not be much time after the framework is published in late March to incorporate new practice. And there will be fewer sources of guidance available.
