Nursery Management: Flexible Provision - 24/7 service

Management
The Bright Horizons (BH) nursery chain has developed a network of more than 1,000 'partner' nurseries in the UK which can help meet the childcare needs of parents who have flexible working arrangements or require emergency care.

The Back-up Care Advantage programme enables parents working forcompanies that already have childcare links with the BH nursery chain toaccess the 'supplementary care' on offer.

They can do this in three ways: through BH's own out-of-schoolfacilities; through in-home care 'typically provided by a nanny'; or atone of the partner nurseries with which the employee's company haslinked up with and vetted for quality (if BH nurseries are full or notin a convenient location).

Some BH nurseries have changed their opening hours to help meet demandfor flexibility.

Stephen Kramer, BH's managing director for Europe, tells NurseryManagement, 'There is a major transformation going on in the UK in thepublic and private sectors. I see employers offering their employees thechance to work on a different kind of schedule than we have ever seenbefore.
