Spotlight on ... Claire Davis

Name: Claire Davis

Position: Teaching assistant and dance and drama co-ordinator at Bridge Special School, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands

- What do you find rewarding about working with children with learning difficulties and autism?

My goal is to make the most of children's opportunities. Some children who have challenging behaviour in the classroom can take part in a fully inclusive session with children from mainstream schools. It's great when children who perhaps don't tend to join in in other lessons demonstrate different movements.

- How did you feel about getting the free ticket to the Global Children's Trust charity ball?

I had a phone call out of the blue. The ticket was donated by one of the sponsors, Serco, to give childcarers a night out.

- What would you like to do in the future?

My first job was working in a private nursery and I would really like to go into nursery management.

I have a Cache level 4 in children's care, learning and development.
