Work Matters: Make my day

Management
Parents are getting more involved in their child's nursery day by viewing their pictures via camera phone. Karen Faux reports.

ConnectedDay is being marketed in the UK as a simple and secure web-based service for nurseries that makes high-quality pictures and videos of children easily available to parents.

Unlike CCTV and webcams, this is not about surveillance or security but about keeping parents involved with their child's time in the nursery. Staff have control of which pictures and videos are taken and shared.

The service was developed in Finland in 2006 and now has about 200 users worldwide, including 12 in the UK. This number is set to rise with a drive to provide free trials, which UK director Garry Irvine believes are extremely persuasive.
