A Bill to end child deaths from abuse and neglect has been introduced to the House of Commons

A Bill to end child deaths from abuse and neglect has been introduced to the House of Commons by Liberal Democrat MP Paul Burstow. He said, 'A child dies every week as a result of abuse and more than 300,000 children at risk are placed on the child protection register every year.' The Bill calls for Area Child Protection Committees to be placed on a statutory footing, for provision for resources to establish Child Death Review Teams providing child protection training for all professionals in contact with children, and for a Children's Commissioner in all parts of the UK.
