A living gift of thanks

On a wet, cold and miserable day earlier this month, our staff were preparing to go home when there was a knock at the door. When we went to investigate, we had the most wonderful surprise ever! There was a group of parents with all the children who had left our pre-school to start school in September. They ushered us outside, where they had prepared a plot in our little garden and were ready to plant an apple tree. This was to thank us 'for the love and care shown to the class of 2006'.

There was a group of parents with all the children who had left our pre-school to start school in September. They ushered us outside, where they had prepared a plot in our little garden and were ready to plant an apple tree. This was to thank us 'for the love and care shown to the class of 2006'.

They had made a commemorative oak plaque and all the children had engraved their names on a brass plate that was fixed on to it. They had invited the press and when the planting ceremony was over, we were invited to a tea party in our honour.
