A window into different cultural worlds

A window into different cultural worlds: young children's everyday activities in the US, Brazil, and Kenya The daily activities of 79 three- year-olds from four cultural groups, evenly divided by social class, were observed, for 20 hours each, in their usual settings. Examining their natural engagement in school-relevant activities, both in and out of childcare, revealed the importance of ecological context. The variation in activities was not explainable simply by cultural group or social class, but by the intersection of culture and class. Tudge, J et al.
