A Yorkshire school has beaten over 700 of the county's businesses to win four major business awards

A Yorkshire school has beaten over 700 of the county's businesses to win four major business awards. Pocklington Montessori School came first in the categories of progress through people, small business of the year, and business personality, in the awards organised by the Yorkshire Evening Press. It was also presented with a fourth award for overall business. Rosie Presland, the school's owner and principal (above), said, 'Since the awards we have been inundated with enquiries from other early years professionals and parents who all wish to find out about us.' The school, which takes 170 children aged two to eight, is set to open a 500,000 extension in September. It will include a baby and toddler centre and expanded nursery, reception and infant classes. The school has also set up a company, the Internet College for Early Years Education (I-C-Eye), to provide childcare training via computer. Photo Yorkshire Evening Press
