Able to excel

In her letter, Jennifer Brown said BTec level 3 is for those 'not academically able'. I know NVQs have some shortcomings and do not always produce a high standard of childcarer, but I qualified as a nursery nurse last year from a BTec level 3 and I can tell you that after two years, more than 50 assignments and projects needing extensive research as well as three days a week at college and two days unpaid at a nursery, I do not feel 'not academically able'. I am also applying for a BA in Early Childhood Studies to train as a nursery manager which can lead to a PGCE, equalling her four-year degree, on the strength of my BTec.
