After maternity leave

How are nursery owners and managers affected by staff returning to work after maternity leave? What effect has it on the children, parents and other staff? We currently have four staff on maternity leave - all seniors who are entitled to return to work in the same position and have the right to request to work the hours they choose. But sometimes staff seem to be under the impression that they are free to work whatever days or hours suit them.

We currently have four staff on maternity leave - all seniors who are entitled to return to work in the same position and have the right to request to work the hours they choose. But sometimes staff seem to be under the impression that they are free to work whatever days or hours suit them.

This is unfair, as the member of staff would be unable to build relationships with the children and parents or maintain the same level of care and responsibility needed.

I would appreciate other nursery owners' opinions on this.
