All sorted out now

By April Jones, director of Computer Kids Children need lots of experience of sorting and grouping objects in different ways. Try some of the free sorting games on the MAPE website, www.mape.org.uk, for a more unusual approach. The games were designed to introduce branching databases - these sort by asking a series of questions to which the answer is either yes or no - but with adult help, they can be used with nursery children. You will find the games in the KidsMAPE section. They can be used online or downloaded (they fit on to a floppy disc) and installed on machines that don't have Internet access.
