An excellent forest school

Provision
Alphabet House Day Nursery in Long Eaton, Nottingham, has been named runner-up in the Royal Forestry Society's Excellence in Forestry 2011 awards in the schools category.

The nursery gained the national award in recognition of its forest school, with judges commending it for successfully 'embedding into the whole nursery approach to child-led learning with very little funding'.

The nursery received a £500 prize and two oak trees, which children have planted in their woodland area.

Proprietor David Green said, 'We are delighted that the hard work, time and passion that all our staff put into our Forest Schools programme have achieved this level of recognition.'
