POSSIBLE ADULT INTERVENTIONS

1 Remind the children that sand and water have their own trays and mustn't be mixed as this spoils other children's play. Explain that the setting is running out of sand and has no money to buy any more.

2 Ask the children how many bucketfuls of sand it will take to fill up the water tray, and start filling and carrying buckets with them.
