Asquith adds four more to nursery stable

Asquith Nurseries, the UK's second largest nursery group, has taken over four nurseries previously run by Busy Bees at David Lloyd Leisure sites and its chief executive has made it clear that the company is keen to continue acquiring small chains. The latest acquisitions include the leisure clubs' creches and bring the number of settings in its nursery portfolio to 114.

The latest acquisitions include the leisure clubs' creches and bring the number of settings in its nursery portfolio to 114.

Three of the nurseries are sited on the outskirts of London at Enfield, Raynes Park, and Heston in Hounslow, while the fourth is in Southampton.

The nurseries, which will be owned directly by Asquith, care for a full-time equivalent of 145 children.

Asquith chief executive Russell Ford said, 'We are totally focused on developing and growing our nursery business, as demonstrated by this acquisition.'

He said Asquith's strategy of adding 'clusters of between three and six nurseries' had worked consistently well for the chain in recent years. 'I am keen to continue with this approach and eager to hear from proprietors who are interested in discussions to this end,' he added.
