(Photograph) - Omobola (or Bola, as she is known) Madamidola from Plumstead (left) received the Trainee Award in out-of-school and holiday clubs from the government whip, Bridget Prentice, at a ceremony for childcare workers organised by the London borough of Lewisham's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership. Bola, who works at the Kilmorie After-school Club and Holiday Playscheme in Forest Hill, completed a distance learning course to pass her diploma in childcare, despite persistent ill health caused by sickle cell anaemia. Sylvia Davis, the after-school club's proprietor, described Bola as being 'an exemplary member of staff' and said that she worked with 'an incredible passion' and was 'always punctual, caring, considerate and willing'.
