I am a nursery nurse supervisor and my annual salary is 9,000. I work in the private sector and am astonished to find so many low-paid positions. It would appear that, after wages and overheads, the nursery owner gets all the money while the hard workers get peanuts. Also, the lack of any union representation means that staff who are sick sometimes don't get paid, while the excuse given is that it's a private day nursery.
