Big picture: Flying high

Careers & Training
Etihad Airways has celebrated the graduation of its 2,000th Flying Nanny, an initiative that was introduced in 2013 in collaboration with Norland, home of the childcare training college and Norland Nannies.

The Flying Nannies are cabin crew members who have undergone a Norland-approved training programme in order to provide a qualified extra pair of hands to families on longhaul flights.

In September 2016, the airline introduced a new Flying Nanny Kit, which promotes greater interaction between nanny and child and contains a range of fun items including Origami, games, pom-poms, flight certificates, tools for magic tricks and face-painting, and a ‘Flying Nanny stamp of approval’, which the nanny can use to reward children during their in-flight activities.
