Parents and carers interested in another way to communicate with babies before they can talk are attending baby signing classes, which has raised concerns that it may hinder speech development. But June Rozanski thinks it helped her bond closely with her son Wouldn't it be wonderful to communicate with the babies in your care even before they could speak? When babies cried because they were in pain, tired, hungry or thirsty, you would be able to understand their needs and respond appropriately. While this may sound far-fetched, believe it or not, it is now possible through baby signing, and it is catching on.

As a parent, with my second child, I had heard about baby signing through reading various articles in magazines and newspapers. Curiosity stirred and I determined to find out more about it. As luck would have it, I discovered that classes ran locally.
