Bridges to cross for partnerships

The relationship between private and voluntary childcare providers and childcare partnerships still needs work in some areas, a year-long Scottish Executive-funded research project has concluded. The study, Childcare Partnerships: Building Bridges with the Voluntary and Independent Sectors, was unveiled in Glasgow on 12 June at a conference organised by out-of-school care and software provider Kids' Clubs Direct.

It was researched by Wendy Shek, the childcare partnership liaison officer employed by the Scottish Independent Nurseries Association (SINA), and was led by a joint project group in which SINA was the main partner.

SINA chair Karen Fairlamb said, 'A lot of it's positive. We wanted to find good practice, and the report has done that. It highlights that some partnerships are better than others, and that there's a lot of good work going on.'
