The agencies had been told to register with the Commission by 30 September, but only five had completed the process by then. That deadline was extended to the middle of October, and it has now been extended indefinitely.
David Wallace, Care Commission spokesman, said, 'We are just keeping it open, rather than setting a fast and hard deadline. We are not aware of the exact number of agencies that are out there.'
He said the Commission was dealing with between 40 and 50 enquiries and that it was still working its way through them as well as trying to help applicants.
