Centres to bridge generation gap

A number of children's centres will aim to support both young and old people through intergenerational learning, following a new report highlighting the need to bridge the generation gap.

The report, For All Ages, launched by 4Children and Counsel and Care,has argued that increasing distance between young and old threatens tocause social problems. Counsel and Care chief executive Stephen Burkesaid, 'The need to generate stronger links between the generations hasnever been more important.'

The Calouste Gulbenkian foundation and other voluntary organisations areworking with the charities to strengthen community cohesion via 3,500new centres across the country.
