Managing director Gary Farrer, who runs the company with his wife Stephanie, the chief executive, said the franchises were being sold for 35,000 plus VAT. So far, four have been bought.
The Farrers plan to have a total of 52 franchises nationwide, in areas with a population of at least 750,000. In return the franchisees would 'receive revenue from day one' from existing business built up over the last eight years as well as money from contracts that Safehands has with 700 hotels, including the Hilton, Devere and Marriott chains.
Mr Farrer said franchisees would be expected to recruit staff and build the business locally but that the company's national call centre in Blackpool would field calls from customers and arrange child- carers' placements.
