Childcare Student of the Year finalists wait to hear who's won

The four finalists for the Pearson/Nursery World Childcare Student of the Year Award 2012 are eagerly awaiting the naming of the winner at the Nursery World Awards ceremony on 28 September.

The students are:

  • Hannah Burgon - NVQ Level 2 Children and Young People's Workforce, Toad Hall Nursery

  • Jennifer Houghton - CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education, Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College

  • Anthony Toye - CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education, Ystrad Mynach College

  • Sarah Travis - BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development, Skelmersdale Ormskirk College

Each was entered for the awards by their tutor and has taken part in a rigorous judging process to find and reward high-achieving students who wil be the excellent practitioners of the future. Those who reached the longlist submitted examples of their course work, and the final four attended a judging day at Pearson's offices in Oxford, led by Penny Tassoni, with NW Editor Liz Roberts, Bright Horizons' Nicola Amies and Pearson's Virginia Carter.

The winner will be revealed at the glamorous Nursery World Awards event on 28 September at the Lancaster London, along with the winners of awards including Nursery of the Year, Nursery Manager of the Year and Early Years Professional of the Year.
