Childminders in England offering free early education places to pre-school children can now include their own children when claiming funding from education authorities. Those who belong to Children Come First quality-assured childminding networks approved by the National Childminding Association and Ofsted were previously only able to draw funding to support their work with other people's children. NCMA chief executive Gill Haynes welcomed the change. 'This will be a significant boost for those childminders providing their own children with an early education place. It would never occur to anyone to ask a teacher to accept less pay because one of their own children was attending nursery education sessions with them,' she said.
