Individual childminders can qualify for quality

Individual childminders can subscribe to a Quality Assurance scheme launched last week by the National Childminding Association. The Quality First programme, which is currently only open to childminders in England and Wales, follows the establishment of the NCMA's Children Come First for approved childminding networks. At a conference in London Sue Griffin, NCMA training and quality assurance manager, stressed that it was not a scheme for brand-new childminders to do and was 'complementary' to Children Come First.

Quality First will also help raise the profile of childminders in the local area.'
