The Commission launched the grading system in April, awarding registeredcare services marks of one to six, with six being the highest, forquality of care, information, staffing and management.
Childminders were the best performing group in the sector, with 27 percent of childminders achieving five and six consistently. Only 0.5 percent were graded at all one and two.
Maggie Simpson, director of childminding development at the ScottishChildminding Association, said, 'There was a lot of concern when the newgrading system came out that it wasn't appropriate for childminders andthat it was going to be too onerous for them to manage. But we thoughtit was important that they were graded along with the rest of the caresector. We knew they would score really well, but I am delighted theyhave done as well as they have.'
