Children and young people scheme to have their say in Government

A 500,000 fund to help children and young people in England to have their say in Government policy was announced by minister for children Margaret Hodge last week. Voluntary organisations can apply for funding on behalf of children and young people to cover their costs in attending any conferences and events, including travel, delegate fees, accommodation and expenses for support workers. Mrs Hodge said the fund was to 'help engage children and young people who may not have felt they have a voice, for instance young people in socially deprived areas, and children with disabilities'. Details about the fund and how to apply are on the Children and Young People's Unit website at www.cypu.gov.uk.
