Children are to have greater access to Welsh-medium nursery provision in Wales

Children are to have greater access to Welsh-medium nursery provision in Wales. The Welsh Assembly has allocated an additional 7m in support of bilingual nursery education in the years 2004 to 2006, so that there will be more trained practitioners capable of delivering nursery provision in Welsh by September 2006. Jenny Randerson, minister for culture, sport and the Welsh language, said, 'The Assembly government's policies will continue to encourage individuals to learn Welsh and use the language. Within the formal education structure, the key areas we will be focusing on are expanding access to early years provision.' The Welsh Language Board is also distributing an extra 1m to the Twf project, which seeks to persuade parents to speak Welsh with their children.
