Children hit the learning trail

(Photograph) - * Children have headed for the hills this summer in Leanachan Forest in West Highlands (pictured), where Forest Enterprise has devised Trailquest to introduce children to the area's natural history by orienteering and solving riddles in the Ben Nevis mountain range. The two-hour Torlundy Trail is specifically designed for young children. Details are available by phoning 01397 702184. Children are also riding high in Glasgow, where a summer activity programme for three-to 16-year-olds has involved play centres, museums, sports centres and libraries. Fun learning on offer includes circus workshops, magicians, sport coaching, drumming and drama. Special activities based on an Egyptian theme have seen children get to grips with scarab beetle drives, pyramid magic and making hieroglyphic bookmarks.
